Clutter is something that we all face every day. Even after you clean out your space, clutter seems to always creep back into your home without you even realizing it. There’s absolutely no way to completely get rid of clutter, but keeping it to a minimum really makes all the difference.
Here are 3 easy ways to minimize clutter.
If you haven’t touched it in three months and are not planning to touch it in three months, then get rid of it.
This goes for that dress you haven’t worn since graduation, those old receipts from your holiday shopping, and those shoes that you never wear because they hurt your feet. The reason why you should set a 3-month time frame is because it will tell you how dependent you are on that item. If your life is not disrupted without the item, then that’s a good indicator that you’ll be okay without it.
Throw trash on your way out.
Whether if you’re in your room or car, throw away any trash laying around. This includes old receipts, empty water bottles, and scrap paper. As you’re leaving your room or car, take some trash on your way out. This is something that could easily be turned into a daily habit. If you stay committed to it, then you won’t even have to think twice about doing this.
Give all of your items a home.
Your clothes go in the closet, your food goes in the fridge. Make sure that everything you own has a home. One product that really helps me organize my stuff are these baskets from Amazon. If you have cluttered shelves, these really come in handy. If you can’t find a home for something, it’s home may be in the trash or donation bin.
