Wow. 2017 was quite the wild ride. I’ve experienced a plethora of highs, lows, and in-betweens. However, now that 2017 is over, it’s time to stop, reflect, and get ready for a round up of all of my favorites that I absolutely loved this year. Let’s go!
Wanna see all these items in action? Check out my YouTube video where I demo the products on this list!
My first favorite of 2017 are these hard cover notebooks from Paper Blanks. I got these from the Logos Books and Records store in Downtown Santa Cruz, and I am so sad because that store is no longer in service, but I’m sure you can find these notebooks on Amazon. I love these notebooks because they are compact enough to fit in a bag, they have a magnetic hardcover, and every cover is like a replica of an art piece because of all the texture and shine. It’s definitely a step up from the traditional notebook. I’ve been using these notebooks for all of my notes for my blog and YouTube channel, and I’ve used them as my own personal journals. To be honest, they’re a little pricey for a notebook, but for the art and durability of this notebook, I’d say it’s worth it.
G2 Pilot Pen 0.5
This next favorite seems so basic, but I need to give a shoutout to my G-2 Pilot 0.5 pen. This little guy has been by my side for nearly a year now and that’s the longest I’ve ever kept one pen from getting lost. I love this pen because it’s the perfect thickness and inky pens feel so soothing to work with. I should get more 0.5 pens but I can never find them at Target, and I have a whole bunch of the ink refills sitting in my closet.
My last stationary favorite is something that I actually never used this year, and consequently, this was the most unproductive and messiest year of my life. Because of that, I vow to never, ever break up with my Passion Planner. I’ve never met a planner anything like this because it’s catered to help you reach your goals and accomplish any projects that you have, utilizing tools and techniques for goal setting and accountability. I think what sets this planner apart is not only that this planner is set up on an hourly basis, but that it has spaces for self reflection such as the monthly reflections, good things that happened, and the space of infinite possibility. This planner is truly a perfect fit for anyone. If you haven’t already heard of this planner, I highly highly recommend that you pick one up and try it out for yourself. It is life changing.
NYX Eyebrow Pencil & Mascara
Okay, so now moving onto the beauty stuff, I’m pretty sure I’ve beaten these two items to death in past videos, but I have found my match made in brow heaven and that is the NYX auto eyebrow pencil and brow mascara. These two do wonders for my brows. The pencil and brush allow me to seamlessly fill in and shape my brows however I want, and the mascara sets them in place so that they don’t budge. I’ve been using these two for over a year now, and until now, they have not failed me.
L’Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation
My sister introduced me to this next beauty favorite which is this L’Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation. I haven’t been a foundation girl in over a year. Usually, I would opt for a tinted moisturizer or decide to go bold and leave the house bare-faced because I feared my skin would get oily or cake-y. Thank goodness that this foundation does not result in either outcomes. All day, my face stays matte and the foundation feels weightless.
Essie Nail Polish – Lady Like
Man, this is my nail color of the year. I feel like this is the only color that I wore all year, and that is Lady Like by Essie. It’s just this nice mauve-y/lavender-y color that’s elegant, modest, and minimal. As I get older, I feel like I stray more and more away from loud and bright colors and gravitate more toward subtle colors because I love the way it makes my hands look. I feel like nude/neutral shades make your digits look longer and cleaner, and if you’re work place does not allow nail polish, this color is a great way to slip under the radar. Not that I’m condoning breaking dress code or anything.
Optimal Living Daily
I caught onto this podcast toward the end of the year and listening to a few episodes was honestly enough for me to put it into my favorites list. Optimal Living Daily is a daily podcast by Justin Malik where he reads articles from blogs around the topics of personal development, minimalism, productivity, and more. I love listening to this podcast while I’m getting ready, doing a long drive, or before I’m about to fall asleep. I find that listening to this podcast makes me feel more relaxed from a stressful day as well as motivated to get my butt out of bed.
Kitty LED Light
My next tech favorite is this Kitty LED lamp that my boyfriend got me for my birthday and I’ve been using it nonstop every night because yo girl hates the dark. But forreal, It’s hard for me to sleep in complete darkness, and I always have to have some sort of light in the room. It’s also easier for me to go to the restroom and not trip over everything. This lamp is made out of a soft silicone that inflates and had different lighting modes from color, cycle, and warm white. The best part is, it’s rechargeable. I just gotta remember to charge it regularly since I use it so often.
H&M Jersey leggings
First off, I am going to give a nod to my favorite leggings this year which are these H&M Jersey Leggings! The reason why I love these leggings is because although they are primarily workout leggings, the different shapes and textures could make it pass for an edgy, going-out piece. I love that the cut outs are made of jersey which is similar to mesh, but a bit more structured and durable. These are also super high wasted, so it keeps my tummy tucked in and my whole silhouette more streamlined.
Target wallet purse
Oh man, I got this thing nearly 2 years and I haven’t stopped using it since, but it’s this blush wallet purse from target. The reason why I love it is because I’ve grown to hate carrying purses around, and this wallet carries everything! It holds all of my cards, cash, coins, keys, and there’s even enough space for my phone! There is ample room and I honestly don’t need a purse unless I’m carrying more than this.
As some of you know, this year, I became a representative of NTS bracelets which is a sick bracelet company owned by Nichole Trinidad where she creates these simple and elegant bracelets with motivational note-to-self’s etched on the band. To be completely honest, I am a little biased because I am a rep, but before I applied to be a rep, I just fell in love with the message and mission behind this company because at the time, and even until now, I resonated with Nichole’s story. The struggles she was facing was exactly what I was battling with at the same time. If you have time to spare, please read her story because it is so beautiful, and if you can, please support and buy a bracelet because you would not only be supporting all of the creative millennials in the world, but also contributing to the Pencils of Promise Foundation! For each bracelet purchased, $1 gets donated to the Pencils of Promise Foundation.
Contigo Shaker Water Bottle
The last favorite I would love to shout out is my Contigo shaker bottle. While this is not necessarily a beauty favorite, drinking water contributes to my overall glow, so there’s that. I got this from Target, and to be honest, I’m not a protein shake kinda gal, but I got it because Target came out with pastel colors of this water bottle and I could not resist hehe. Besides that, I take this bottle with me everywhere and it has become my safety blanket. It’s easy to clean, it holds a lot of water, the cap doesn’t leak, and it can fit in cupholders. All great things I look for in a water bottle.
